With 200,000 square feet of temperature-controlled production space, Manitowoc Tool & Manufacturing, located in the city of Manitowoc, offers turnkey solutions from initial design through assembly. The family-owned business was founded in 1965 as Manitowoc Tool & Die with a focus of making stamping dies. In 1980, the company diversified into producing metal stampings and CNC machining. Today, Manitowoc Tool & Manufacturing provides tool and die design, the building of tools and dies, production metal stamping, fabrication, and assembly for a broad range of customers.

Manitowoc Tool & Manufacturing is investing in employee development at all levels of its organization. The company requested that WMEP Manufacturing Solutions provide an in-house Supervisor Skills workshop.

Through two in-person Supervisor Skills workshops (four, eight-hour sessions each, spread out over a four-week period) WMEP provided 26 participants with the knowledge and skills needed to become effective leaders and supervisors.

Participants learned about behavioral characteristics; communication; motivation; building better teams; handling conflict; making meetings work; delegation and time management; leading employees through change; and employee discipline and on-the-job training.

  • Participants gained the knowledge and skills needed to become effective leaders and supervisors. Through a self-discovery approach, the participants became acquainted with skills and tools to relate to subordinates, peers and managers.

“Our participants were very pleased with the workshop. There was a diversity of materials to aid in learning, as well as group activities that really brought us together as a leadership team. The content was delivered in an easily relatable way. This workshop gave us valuable real-world skills to sustainably grow our organization and set us apart in the labor market as an employer of choice.”
